If Alighiero Boetti were alive today, he would be a 72-years-old kid-artist, eager to play and conquer the universe from his desk.

In the exhibition at Reina Sofía Museum his soul persists, either dynamic or idle, either player or philosophical, accomplice or provocative, deeply light or lightly deep, funny and nostalgic, smart and trivial. Above all, his dream of immortality is achieved.

Marc Chagall has filled of colour the Thyssen Museum and Fundación Cajamadrid. This painter of Russian roots, whose long and eventful life (1887-1985) witnessed the most vibrant moments of the 20th century, has been one of the masters of the avant-garde. However, he always painted traditional themes like Russian folklore or biblical images, linking to his Jewish origin. That paradox between the form and the content in his art was explains why he was an usual painter, difficult to classify, and sometimes uncomfortable.

"Locus Solus", a novel starred by strange machines and unlikely works of art, is the name of the villa where these treasures are hoarded. "Impressions of Africa" is about papier mache's adventures, similar to those by Le Douanier Rousseau.

Raymond Roussel was admired by Marcel Duchamp and Dadaists, surrealists around Salvador Dalí, the artists of the Pataphysical school... and so many more until today. After reading his eccentric literature, you won't be surprised that Raymond Roussel had been adopted by the most extravagant artists.

The Golden Fleece was the symbol of Burgundy's and Flemish power, afterwards of a family (the "Habsbourgs"), later of another one (the "Austrias"), and finally of the Kings of Spain, all dynasties mixed (Bourbon, Bonaparte and Savoy) until today.
Such continuity can't be explained without the magic of a name, the splendor of a symbol, the prestige of an institution. The exhibition "The Golden Fleece and its sovereigns" at the Fundación Carlos de Amberes tells us that story.
  • Venue and date Fundación Carlos de Amberes, from 1/dec/11 to 11/mar/12

When we evoke Antonio López, two works are brought to our mind. A classic one: the "Gran Vía" on which he worked late in the 70's; a recent one, equally popular: the monumental head of his grand-daughters, greeting travelers at the Atocha Station. At the exhibit at Museo de Bellas artes de Bilbao, these works are not displayed, but we will enjoy "Flight over the Gran Vía", a most recent work related.
