There was a time when great artists invested their imagination in works that would potentially reach thousands of people: they designed posters, book covers, postcards, bank notes, stamps... The Fundación Juan March gathers the main contributions to graphic design of movements such as "Arts & Crafts", Wiener Secession, Futurism, Dada, Constructivism, Bauhaus or "Art Deco".
"Locus Solus", a novel starred by strange machines and unlikely works of art, is the name of the villa where these treasures are hoarded. "Impressions of Africa" is about papier mache's adventures, similar to those by Le Douanier Rousseau.
Raymond Roussel was admired by Marcel Duchamp and Dadaists, surrealists around Salvador Dalí, the artists of the Pataphysical school... and so many more until today. After reading his eccentric literature, you won't be surprised that Raymond Roussel had been adopted by the most extravagant artists.
